Laura Jones
Laura started running after signing to run the Everest Marathon in May 2017 .
Laura has building up her distances and set an even bigger challenge ; to run a marathon on each of the 7 continents in one year .
Despite having never run more one kilometre at the outset , she agreed run the Everest Marathon after a few glasses of wine ! , reality set in the next morning and she began to form her training plan .
Day to day , Laura runs a luxury adventure travel company , Monix Adventures , with husband Rhys . The Everest marathon idea itself was conceived a client and friend who wanted to run one marathon in his life , and wanted it to be spectacular . Too good an opportunity to miss , Laura jumped the chance of being his running partner .
After the initial hurdle of starting training , Laura fell in love running and that's when she decided to set the main goal of the 7 marathons . She wants to encourage others to break down their own barriers and overcome the fear of judgement about being good enough , fit enough or fast enough . Laura believes that with enough determination , self belief and commitment , you can achieve anything .
Her schedule starts in London on 23rd April , for what will definitely be busiest of the 7 marathons . Then on 29th May it's the Everest Marathon , the world's highest , starting at over 5 , 300m . Swiftly after that she'll running the Banff Marathon on 18th June . Summer will be spent training , before it kicks off again on 9th September for the Patagonia Marathon , then 22nd October in Australia for the Rottnest Island Marathon . The Antarctic Marathon is on 1st Feb 2018 , with a quick turnaround before the heat of Africa and finishing with the Kilimanjaro Marathon on 25th February 2018 !

Fiona Oakes
Fiona Oakes is a British marathon runner , holds three world records for marathon running . In 2013 , she won both the Antarctic Ice Marathon the North Pole Marathon . She runs despite losing a knee cap from an illness she was 17 . Fiona has been vegan 6 years old . She runs Tower Hill Stables Animal Sanctuary and is a patron of the Captive Animals Protection Society .
In 2013 , Oakes became the fastest female in aggregate time to complete a marathon on each continent ; the fastest female in aggregate time to complete a marathon on each continent and the North Pole and the fastest female in elapsed time to complete a marathon on each continent and the North Pole .
Fiona works a retained firefighter , a job which means she is often on call and needs to be ready to react quickly . She also works long hours on a sanctuary she runs almost singlehandedly , on which she cares 400 animals including horses , pigs , sheep and dogs . She also fundraises for the sanctuary , for the food bill is over £5000 per month , and for other animal issues . Typical working days start before dawn and end around 8pm on her sanctuary in Essex , UK .
Fiona Oakes made great achievements in her running , which seem all the more impressive given her incredibly full lifestyle which means that training competes with a number of other demands on her time and energy .
