On December 20th , they ( decide ) to go for a Christmas tree . The children ( be ) very happy . They love Christmas . They ( drive ) to a trees farm to find the best tree . They ( look ) around , but nothing ( be ) good enough . The manager ( tell ) them they ( have ) bigger trees , but they ( be ) uphill . They ( have ) to walk for 30 minutes to get to the place . Suddenly , they ( see ) the perfect tree . It ( be ) big and leafy . Dad ( take ) an axe and ( cut ) it down . Everyone ( be ) excited . They ( tie ) it up to the car and ( go ) for some ornaments and lights . They also ( buy ) some fake snow and a new Nativity . Everybody ( help ) to put the big leafy tree inside the house . It ( look ) majestic . When they started ( start ) decorating it , something ( make ) a sound in the tree . They ( think ) it ( be ) their imagination or the wind . 2 However , a critter ( jump ) from inside the tree . It ( be ) a squirrel . Mom ( get ) scared . Dad ( grab ) a broom to defend themselves . It ( get ) worst when other four squirrels ( come ) from the tree and ( run ) around all the house . They ( brake ) vases , pictures and decorations that they ( love ) . Joel , the middle son , ( have ) and idea : open the windows and door to let the squirrels go outside the house , ( say ) he . Everything ( go ) as planned . The squirrels ( leave ) the house quickly . They ( clean ) all the mess and ( prepare ) some hot chocolate and cookies . That day , they ( learn ) a lesson : always check what you are buying , specially if it comes from the woods .
