Explanation

Did you know...? The St Elias Icefields are the largest non-polar icefields in the world. There are over 2000 glaciers in these icefields, and the Kaskawulsh Glacier is the longest in the territory. Interesting enough, the yukon is home to the world's smallest desert as well, only 1.6 square miles!

Did you know...? There are only five towns int he Northwest Territories: Yellowknife (the capital), Fort Smith, Hay River, Inuvik, and Normal Wells.

Did you know...? Nunavut is the youngest territory in Canada, only becoming its own territory on April 1st, 1999. Not only is it the youngest, its also the largest at 1,242,742.4 square miles, AND is made up of over 36,0000 islands, boasting the longest coastline in Canada as well. Interested in visiting? There are no roads to get to Nunavut, you can only get there by air or sea.

Did you know...? 75% of British Columbia is covered in mountains above 3300 feet, which is why only 5% of the land is arable.

Did you know...? There are 11.2 miles worth of indoor walkways in downtown Calgary. They connect over 100 buildings through 60 suspended bridges.

Did you know...? Defined by parallels and meridians, it is the only Canadian Province with no natural borders. It sits between the 49th and 60the parallels North and the 101°21’41″ and 110th meridians West.

Did you know...? In 1916, Manitoba was the first province in Canada to grant women the right to vote.

Did you know...? Not only are there no mountains in Ontario (with the highest point only being 2,274 ft above sea level), but its borders with the US are almost entirely waterways. This includes 4 out of the 5 Great Lakes!

Did you know...? 1/3 of Québécois want to separate themselves from Canada. There have been 2 attempts at a separatist referendums, both barely failing. 40% of Québécois see themselves as Québécois first and Canadian second.

Did you know...? Newfoundland and Labrador is the youngest provence, joining in 1949. The referendum resulted in a narrow majority, which is why many Newfoundlaners and Labradorians consider themselves from Newfoundland first, and Canadian second.

Did you know...? New Brunswick is the only official bilingual province in Canada. 34% of people in this province speak both French and English.

Did you know...? Charlottetown and Summerside are the only two cities on Prince Edward Island along with seven incorporated towns.

Did you know...? The coastline for Nova Scotia totals at 8264 miles. That is more than double the entire width of Canada.
