She studied and worked there four years . In the 1960s , she went back to Germany and worked as a choreographer . Then , in 1973 , she took over a company in Wuppertal , a city in northwest Germany , and she called it the ? Tanztheater Wuppertal ? . In fact , the new style she created is called ? dance theatre ? . Pina Bausch was extremely hard - working , and she made her dancers work very hard , too . ? Everything must come from the heart , ? she said . a period of 35 years , she created more than 30 dance - theatre pieces , performed all over the world . Pina Bausch died June 30 , 2009 . , her company continues to tour the world . They work without her , but they keep her new dance form alive .
