Explanation

Africa is the only continent that’s in all four hemispheres — north, south, east, and west! That means it's right in the middle of the world!

Europe is home to the smallest country in the world — Vatican City! It’s so tiny, you could walk across it in about 20 minutes!

Some of the world’s most popular foods come from Asia — like sushi from Japan, noodles from China, and curry from India!

Australia is the only continent that’s also a country! And it’s home to animals you can’t find anywhere else — like kangaroos and koalas!

South America is crazy about football. Countries like Brazil and Argentina have some of the most famous players in the world!

North America has every kind of landscape — deserts, mountains, forests, beaches, and even frozen tundras in the north!

Antarctica is the coldest place on Earth. Even though it’s freezing, lots of animals like penguins, seals, and whales live there.

The Indian Ocean is the third biggest ocean in the world, after the Pacific and Atlantic! It’s full of colorful coral reefs and amazing sea creatures like dolphins, turtles, and giant whale sharks.

The Atlantic Ocean is the second biggest ocean in the world. It’s home to the Sperm Whale, the largest toothed animal on Earth, and many other amazing sea creatures

Did you know the Pacific Ocean got its name from a word that means “peaceful”? When explorer Ferdinand Magellan first saw it in the 1500s, the water looked calm — so he called it Mar Pacifico, which means "peaceful sea" in Portuguese!

In the Arctic, during the summer, the sun never sets for months! That means it can be light outside all day and night. And in the winter, it’s dark all day!

The Southern Ocean surrounds Antarctica and is the youngest named ocean — scientists officially called it the Southern Ocean only in 2000!
