Explanation

Vesicles are areas where things are stored in the cell. If it stores water is often called a vacuole. If it stores digestive enzymes it is called a lysosome.

Open, fluid-filled area. It is more than just jelly that holds the cell together. It has a structure (cytoskeleton), substances dissolved and cell processes take place her.

These are found only in animal cells. They are a part of the cytoskeleton and help the cell divide.

Makes energy for the cell. When you see pictures it will have a little maze inside. These are found in both plant and animal cells.

ER is a bunch of folded membranes that create lipids and modify proteins for use inside the cell. Sometimes it has ribosomes on it (rough ER), sometimes not (smooth ER)

Flagellum is singular (one), flagella is plural. flagella are used for movement and can be found in eukaryotic cells, too, not only bacteria

The cell wall gives structure and support to plant cells.

The nucleolus is a structure inside the nucleus. It is where ribosomes are made.

Also called the Golgi Apparatus, it is similar to endoplasmic reticulum in that it is a series of connected tubes. It looks like a stack of pancakes and transports things outside of the cell.

The cell membrane is a feature of ALL cells. It does more than just hold things together. It controls what goes into and out of the cell.

Prokaryotes (bacteria and Archaea) have cell walls, too, with the same function...protect the cell and give it support...but different structure (chemicals) make it up.

ALL cells have ribosomes. They are very small structures that make proteins.

Chloroplasts are found only in plant cells (and some protists). They are where photosynthesis takes place and sugars are made as an energy source.

Only eukaryotic cells (plant, animal, fungi and protist) have a nucleus. It is where the DNA is kept and is responsible for controlling the functions of the cells.

Where animal cells have many smaller storage areas (vacuoles), plant cells tend to have one large one called the central vacuole. It mostly stores water which also gives support to the plant.

A plasmid is an extra piece of DNA found only in prokaryotic cells. It contains separate genes and copies at a separate time from the main DNA (nucleoid)

The cytoplasm is more than just a bunch of jelly. It has a structure to it called the cytoskeleton. This allows the cell to have shape and move (if it does), just like your skeleton does..

Pilli (pilus is singular) are found only in prokaryotic (bacteria & Archaea) cells. They help cell stick together during reproduction.
