The Mall of the World is an attempt to make Dubai a year - round destination and they are hoping to attract 180 million tourists annually when the construction is complete . But does it sound too good to be true ? It's a controversial project and there are indeed some people who are not so enamored of the idea . Those concerned with the environment believe that trying to fight nature and cooling down the natural temperatures of the desert will only lead to more global warming as such constructions need huge amounts of energy and are responsible for carbon emissions .
