Different parts of a volcano

por Vivian Cheang
1 Crater 2 A parasitic Cone (secondary cone) 3 A secondary vent 4 A vent 5 A magma Chamber

Explanation

It refers to the opening end of the vent of a volcano, which allows the eruption of magma.

It refers to a small conical cone that allows the eruption of magma on the flanks (sides) of a volcano.

It refers to another crack that was developed, allowing the eruption of volcanic materials. It is formed when volcanic materials encounter another weak joint in the crust, which enables the ejection of materials.

It refers to the major crack within the volcano which allows the eruption of magma and other volcanic materials onto the ground surface.

It refers to the transitional zone between the crust layers that temporarily stores up-rising magma from the asthenosphere. As plates subduct, changes in pressure in the asthenosphere cause magma to rise. When magma encounters rocks in the crust with a higher melting point or much harder rocks, it stops rising and is temporarily stored within the crust at a transitional zone, called the magma chamber. Until the pressure stored within the chamber is strong enough to push the magma to rise and break through the barrier rocks, an eruption takes place.
