When you bite & chew your food, it breaks down into smaller particles & forms a bolus. 2 Salivary Gland - Food is moistened with saliva, which becomes a bolus, making it easier to swallow. 3 Tongue - Your tongue pushes the bolus into your pharynx for swallowing 4 Oesophagus - Once swallowed, peristalsis (muscle contractions) massage the bolus ito the stomach 5 Stomach - Peristalsis creates a churning action in the stomach. Bolus becomes a paste known as chyme, The stomach will intermittently release chyme into the small intestine. 6 Liver - Produces Bile 7 Gall Bladder - Stores and releases bile into the small intestine. 8 Pancreas - Panceatic juice containing protease enzymes is released into the stomach 9 Small intestine - Peristalsis pushes chyme through the small intestine. Bile breaks down fat into fatty acids and glycerol. 10 Large Intestine - The large intestine has four parts: cecum, colon, rectum, and anal canal. 11 Colon - Peristalsis pushes chyme through the large intestine. Remaining waste is gathered, including indigestible fibre 12 Rectum - Waste is released 13 Anus - Waste is expelled 14 Appendix - Produces and stores good microbes for the human gut.
