1 They are located around the equator between 10ºN and 10ºS. Its average annual temperature is over 25º and the thermal amplitude is less than 3º. It is hot all year round. It usually precipitates more than 2000 mm a year and it rains every month. The landscape is an evergreen jungle. 2 They are located between 10 and 30º latitude in both hemispheres. The annual average temperature exceeds 20ºc. The thermal amplitude varies between 3 and 10ºC and increases as we move away from the equator. Total annual rainfall varies between 2000mm and less than 400mm near deserts. It generally has a very wet season. The forest is tropical and savanna in those places where rainfall is scarcer. 3 It usually occurs in areas of the planet where rainfall is scarce. The annual average temperature is high, more than 20º. There is a big difference between day and night in temperature. Rainfall is less than 250 mm per year and is distributed in a very irregular way. The vegetation is desert and is reduced to oases. 4 It usually occurs between 30º and 40º of latitude in each hemisphere. The average annual temperature varies between 10 and 18º. The thermal amplitude varies between 12 and 16º. Summers are hot and winters are mild. The precipitations oscillate between 300mm and 900mm per year and the distribution is very irregular and the summers are dry. The vegetation corresponds to the Mediterranean forest (holm oaks, cork oaks and bushes) 5 It usually occurs between 40 and 60º latitude in both hemispheres. The annual average temperature oscillates between 10 and 15º. The thermal amplitude is small. Winters are mild and summers cool. The total annual rainfall is around 1000 mm that is distributed regularly throughout the year. As for the vegetation, it is deciduous forest (oak and beech) and moors (dense scrub vegetation) 6 It is found primarily in the interior of North America, Europe, and Asia. The annual average temperature oscillates between 0 and 10º. The thermal amplitude is very high. Winters are long and cold and summers are short and hot. The precipitations oscillate between 750mm and 300mm per year being its irregular distribution with maximum in summer. The vegetation corresponds to the Taiga or coniferous forest (perennial species, such as firs and pines), grasslands and steppes. 7 It is located around the poles. The average annual temperature is below 0º. The warmest month does not exceed 10º. The precipitations are little generally less than 250mm since it falls in the form of snow. The vegetation corresponds to the Tundra (mosses and lichens) 8 It is located in the highest mountainous areas. Temperatures are characterized by decreasing with altitude (0.6º per 100m). Summers are short and cool, and winters are long and very cold. Rainfall increases with height, especially on the windward slope. The vegetation is affected by the variation in height and is staggered (trees, bushes, meadows and shrubs)
