Paris Peace Accords were signed to stop the war, US. troops left Vietnam and Vietnam became a communist country. Vietnam is a French Colony. Lyndon Johnson was forced to start negotiations, however, the war continued. Taxes were increased to continue with the war. More than half a million US soldiers were already in Vietnam and protests were gathering more people each day to stop the war and bring the troops back. Kennedy refused to have an armed conflict in Vietnam, however, sent military forces to work as advisors from Southern Vietnam. During World War II Japan invaded Vietnam because it was a Frecn colony. When the war was over and Japan left Vietnam, the Northern territory which they controlled was given to Ho Chi Minh. Ho Chi Minh creates the Vietnamese Communist Party. A bar in Saigon where US. officers gathered was attached by the VietCong forces (militia from the North). The United States through the Truman Doctrine supported France to stay in Vietnam and stop the spread of communism. However, France left Vietnam.
