Slide 1: What is persuasive text?

Persuasive text aims to convince readers to share a viewpoint or take action. It uses reasons, evidence, and language choices to persuade.

2

Slide 2: Purpose

The purpose is to persuade, motivate, or prompt a decision. It aligns with the writer’s stance and appeals to readers’ values or needs.

3

Slide 3: Target audience

Identify the audience to tailor arguments, tone, and evidence. Consider beliefs, interests, and potential objections the readers may have.

Slide 4: Example of a Persuasive Text

Children Should Walk to School

Children should be encouraged to walk to school. The environment, children's health, and safety are too important to ignore. Why should people drive when they can simply walk? Since children spend so much time sitting during the week, it is only fair that they walk to school when possible.

Firstly, let us think about the importance of walking for the environment. Many people agree that there are too many cars on the road. Cars release gases into the air and cause pollution. This pollution damages both the environment and people’s health. Although cars are useful for children who live far away, most children who live nearby should walk to school.

Secondly, walking to school has many health benefits for children and their parents. Children today spend a lot of time indoors and do not get enough exercise. Experts say that walking is a simple and healthy activity for everyone. Walking helps children become more active and ready to learn at school.

To conclude, I believe that it is very important for children to walk to school. Walking keeps us healthy, reduces pollution, and helps the environment. If children are able to walk, they should start today!
