Glucose stores energy, but not in a readily usable ("spendable") form. ATP is quick and easy for a cell to use -- snap off one phosphate group (the "P"), and there's your energy!

Plants perform photosynthesis to store sunlight energy as chemical energy (in the form of glucose). Glucose is much more stable than ATP, but a cell can't use its energy as easily.

There are three steps to cellular respiration. Glycolysis (1st step) slices apart the glucose and creates 2 ATP. The Krebs Cycle (2nd step) produces another 2 ATP. The final final step -- Electron Transport Chain -- produces 32 ATP.

Plants have chloroplast organelles that contain chlorophyll a -- a green pigment that allows photosynthesis to trap sunlight energy into glucose molecules.

Fermentation is "anaerobic" -- meaning that it does its work without using oxygen (the "a-" prefix means "without")

All living things need energy survive -- plants are the only ones that can convert and store sunlight energy in glucose (which is needed for cellular respiration)

Plants use CO2 to produce C6H12O6 (glucose). Animals use glucose and produce CO2. This is one way that carbon cycles/moves around the environment.

Photosynthesis requires carbon dioxide, water, and light to work... if any of these are missing (or are too low in amount), photosynthesis either slows down or stops.
