This is the Content 4 for 4th Quarter. The Philippines is a geologically and climatically dynamic country because of its location near the equator and along active tectonic plate boundaries. Its position along the Philippine Sea Plate and Eurasian Plate, as well as being part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, makes it prone to earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and the formation of mountain ranges, fault lines, and ocean trenches.

At the same time, the country experiences frequent typhoons, heavy rainfall, and coastal changes due to hydrometeorological processes, which continuously shape its landforms and affect human activities.

Understanding these processes helps explain why the Philippines has rich biodiversity, fertile soils, and diverse ecosystems, but also why it is vulnerable to natural hazards. By studying geologic and hydrometeorological processes, students can connect scientific concepts to everyday life, improve disaster preparedness, and appreciate the unique natural features of the country.
