The Simple Present tense is used to describe habits, routines, facts, and general truths. It is one of the most common tenses in English.

"I drink coffee every morning."


Rutinas-routines:

Differentiating "to be" and "do/does"

To be: This verb is used to describe existence, identity, or state.

We describe countries, nationalities, moods, weather, places

(location-estar), jobs/occupations, relationships.

Examples:

Existencia-existency:

"There is a book on the table."

Identidad-identity:

"She is a teacher."

Estado-state:

"He is happy today."

Países y nacionalidades-countries and nationalities:

They are from Canada. They are Canadians.

Moods-modos:

"I am tired after the long journey."

Weather-clima:

"It is sunny outside."

Lugares (location)-places:

"We are at the park."

  • "Do/Does": These auxiliary verbs are used to form questions positive or negatives answers in the Simple Present tense.

Spelling Rules for Third Person:

  1. Add "s":
  • Most verbs simply take an "s."
  • Example: "He walks to school."
