Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809. He grew up in a log cabin in Kentucky and later moved to Illinois. In 1830, he began his political career and was elected as the 16th President of the United States in 1860. He led the country through the Civil War and issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. Lincoln was assassinated on April 14, 1865.
