Each cell in your body is surrounded by a cell membrane. The job of the cell membrane is to:

The nucleus of the cell contains an important molecule found in all cells. This molecule is “the blueprint of life” and is called:

Proteins, like antibodies, are made inside of the cell. Proteins are made by the cell’s:

Once a protein is made, it needs to be able to leave the cell. The structure that packages the protein in a vesicle and directs it to the cell membrane is known as the:

Cells need energy to perform all of their functions. Where in the cell is energy made?

The cell membrane, also known as the plasma membrane, is a selectively permeable barrier made of a phospholipid bilayer. Its primary job is to: Protect the cell's internal contents and regulate the passage of materials like nutrients, water, and ions into the cell and waste products out of the cell.

DNA is the molecule that stores all the genetic information needed to build and maintain an organism. It contains the instructions (genes) for making proteins, which determine an organism's traits and functions. This is why it's famously known as the "blueprint of life."

Ribosomes are the tiny, granular structures that serve as the protein factories of the cell. They read the genetic instructions carried by messenger RNA (mRNA) and assemble amino acids into the specific sequence that forms a protein. Ribosomes can be found floating freely in the cytoplasm or attached to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER).

The Golgi apparatus acts like the cell's "post office" or "shipping and packaging department." It receives newly synthesized proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). Inside the Golgi, these proteins are modified, sorted, and packaged into vesicles (small membrane-bound sacs). The Golgi then directs these vesicles to their final destinations, such as the cell membrane for export out of the cell.

Often called the "powerhouse of the cell," the mitochondria are organelles where cellular respiration occurs. This process converts the energy from food (like glucose) into a usable form of energy called ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate). ATP is the energy currency that powers almost all cellular activities.
