Feedback

Factories that release smoke into the air are a major source of air pollution.

✅ The correct answer is noise pollution. Loud sounds from machines, traffic, or music causes noise pollution. ❌ Air pollution: That’s caused by smoke and gases, not loud sounds. Water pollution: This happens when trash or chemicals get into water — not related to noise. Land pollution: This is caused when the ground gets dirty or damaged because of waste, chemicals, or harmful materials that people leave behind.

Land pollution happens when pesticides, fertilizers, and other chemicals used in farming build up in the ground, making it toxic and less fertile.

The 3 R's -Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. This is the best practice to reduce pollution. It helps minimize waste, conserve resources, and prevent harmful emissions from landfills and incineration

Vehicle exhaust is a major source of air pollution. It releases harmful gases like carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides , and particulate matter —all of which pollute the air and can cause respiratory problems.

Mare Chicose is the main and only landfill in Mauritius, located in the Grand Port District. It plays a vital role in the country’s waste management system.

Throwing litter—especially plastics—into the sea is a clear example of water pollution. It harms marine life, disrupts ecosystems, and can even enter the food chain through microplastics.

Bicycles and buses reduce the number of cars, which means less smoke and cleaner air.

Most litter comes from people who don’t dispose of waste properly. Always use a bin or take trash home.

"Food pollution" is not a type of pollution. While food can become contaminated (like with germs or chemicals), we don’t call that “food pollution.” The main types are air, water, land and noise pollution.
