5

6

Identify the voice and the tense of the following sentence: How did he pronounce that word?

Explanation

The subject always comes before the main verb.

The subject always comes before the main verb. "ARE" tells us that the sentence is in the Present Simple.

This is active voice. The company is the subject and it performs the action.

This is Passive Voice. The subject is "he" but the action ("to invite") is performed by other people. In addition to this, we have the verb to be before the past participle of the main verb.

This is the Passive Voice. "Word" is the subject and "pronounce" is the action which is performed by people.

This is the Active Voice. The subject of the sentence is "he" and he performed the action ("to pronounce").
