fast-paced outstanding thought-provoking predictable hysterical touching chilling gripping

This week sees what may be the biggest movie event of the year : Greta Gerwig ? s Barbie and Christopher Nolan ? s Oppenheimer premiering on the same day across the world : July 21st , 2023 . Both movies have created quite a stir across social media platforms and people are eagerly waiting to see who will win the box office battle .  While Barbie is about the iconic doll , Oppenheimer is a biographical thriller about the invention of the atomic bomb and its catastrophic consequences on our world .

Going into Barbie , I was expecting a comedy set in a hot - pink , carefree Barbie world . Much to my surprise , it wasn't so . " Do you guys ever think about dying ? " ?  asks the peppy heroine , and mid - disco dance number no less ! Throughout the movie , Barbie has to undo everything she believes in and accept human mortality and her place within it . The movie takes you through a series of scenes that will not leave you unaffected .

In Oppenheimer , death is also a possibility that hangs over the entire film , be it the reflection on the genocide in the World War II or the devastating impact the atomic bomb could have on the Japanese people . The action is , and not a single moment is wasted . Expectations were high for Christopher Nolan , an director renowned for past blockbuster hits like " Interstellar , " " The Dark Knight , " and " Dunkirk , " and he does not disappoint .

Both movies dive into themes , urging us to explore deeper truths about our morality and our humanity . Whether you choose to see Barbie , Oppenheimer , or do both as a double feature , their narratives will undoubtedly glue you to the screen .
