Checkpoint 3 | Quiz

por Anny Ho
1

Which of the following is "Clay" soil?

2

Which of the following is "Loam" soil?

3

Which of the following is "Sand" soil?

4

Which of the following is "Silt" soil?

5

__________ is very fertile and typically causes vineyards to be over-vigorous. Because of the vigour, this soil produces wines that have very little flavour and colour. Despite this fact, this soil offers great potential with wines made from vineyards that have rigorous pruning regimes.

6

__________ soil retains water and heat. In cooler climate regions that have sun, the ideal sites with this soil tend to be mixed with a portion of limestone. This soil is very fine-grained which makes growing roots very difficult.

7

__________ soil tends to stay cooler and also retain water. This soil is famous for producing some of the boldest red and white wines in the world.

8

__________ soils are well-drained and retain heat. In warm climate regions, this soil makes wines that are "softer" with less color, light acidity and tannin. In cooler climate regions, this soil benefit vineyards by retaining heat and draining well to produce highly aromatic wines. A side benefit of this soil is its resistance to pests and could encourage more organic production in the wine region.
