Sixty year ago , programming was considered much like - an - where correctness of the solution was the key focus rather than of the design . During this era , due to extensive use of the programs were . As these were difficult to understand and maintain around 1970s programming was introduced . It restricted the program control to 3 basic constructs , that is Sequence , and which is also called Iteration . As a further improvement programming came up where program is designed as a set of smaller chunks to reduce rather making one program . Today we have resort to - oriented programming where the system is closely mapped to the - world entities such as students , courses , lecturers and modules . These are modeled as in the system which are used to create objects .
