In the corner of the room was a small wooden table , Jack's mother had given him as a house warming gift he first moved into his own home . The table , there currently sat a peculiar looking black cat , was a family heirloom and Jack was particularly fond of it because his mother , had recently passed away , had loved it so much . It had been passed down through the generations of his family and he intended to pass it down to his own child too . Jack was still unmarried and he didn't know with he would finally start a family , but he was sure that one day he would have a son or daughter of his own .
The cat , name was Flavia , sat purring in the corner . What was most striking about Flavia was her eyes , one was bright green and the other a sapphire blue . Next to the cat was a beautiful crystal vase of freshly cut roses , all had been picked from Jack's front garden this morning .
Jack was sitting in his favourite armchair gazing out of the window , looked out onto his carefully tended garden . Outside the sun was shining and the birds were singing and everything seemed so perfect . The man lived across the road was washing his car in the driveway and he looked up and waved across at Jack . All was right with the world . But for how long ?
