PAST SIMPLE - PRESENTATION

PAST SIMPLE.

*Used to talk about an activity that is finished, in the past.

Formula:

(+)   Subject + verb (past) + complement

(-)   Subject + didn't + verb (present) + complement

(?)   Did + Subject + verb (present) + complement + ?

PAST SIMPLE - CONSIDERATIONS

*Usually needs a past time expression. (like yesterday, last night, XX years/months/days ago, etc)

*Can also use an expression of period of time. In this case, use FOR to say that period. This period is IN THE PAST.

Examples:

Jhon lived in Mexico for five years.

Miguel went to the movies last night.

(-)

I didn't finish my report.

She didn't come to class last week.

(?)

Did you go to the movies last night?

Did they complete their homework on time?
