We are going to study two types:

  • Infinitives of purpose with to.

INFINITIVES OF PURPOSE WITH TO

The infinitive of purpose gives the reason of the first part of the sentence.

The infinitive form is "to + verb": to pay, to read, to learn, to buy, to eat, etc.

Examples:

We use money to pay for goods.

  • Why do we use money? To pay for goods.

We go to school to learn.

  • Why do we go to school? To learn.
