Freedom and Human Rights

These days, people take for granted what our ancestors worked so hard to provide for us. They had great perseverance along with a single goal in mind. Their goal was to bring America freedom at last. Freedom can mean so many different things to many different people. We are all different, so the term “freedom” means something different to all of us living in America. To me, freedom means a sense of hope, commitment, and pride. When I read in school about how America came to be a free land, I always feel proud and amazed at how the many leaders, soldiers, and families from the past brought freedom to us, and I also feel hope for America’s future that it will keep its freedom and remain the land of the free for generations and generations to come.

Human Rights

Freedom is a condition in which people have the opportunity to speak, act and pursue happiness without unnecessary external restrictions. Freedom is important because it leads to enhanced expressions of creativity and original thought, increased productivity, and an overall high quality of life.

The idea of freedom is complex, and it must be redefined and defended anew by each generation. Moreover, the value of freedom can only be understood and appreciated by those who have a sense of the past and a highly developed understanding of human nature. All too often, people who live in freedom tend to ignore its fragility and take it for granted. Conversely, people who have not been raised within a long-standing tradition of freedom have trouble understanding and implementing it in their society.
