When I was a first-grader in elementary school, my twin brother and I started going to handball practices. When my mother was a kid, she also played handball, so when we started school, she asked me and my brother if we wanted to try it and we said yes. We’ve been doing it ever since. Teacher Do you enjoy other ball games as well? Student Sure, I do. For example, I usually play football, but that’s nothing like with handball. Football’s just for fun, and I take handball more seriously. When I visit my grandparents, I shoot some hoops there, but basketball’s also just for entertainment. I’ve tried baseball once, but it’s really not a regular thing, it was only a one-time thing. Teacher Do you prefer doing sports indoors or outdoors? Student It depends on which sport we’re talking about or what the weather’s like. When it rains, I’m obviously not happy to go outside. Also, for instance, handball’s better when we’re inside the sports centre, but football’s usually more enjoyable when it’s played outside. Teacher What are the overall benefits of doing sports? Student Well, for example, it can help me keep fit and it is easier to watch my figure if I do sports. It also makes me more awake, so I don’t get sleepy while doing sports. Teacher Have you ever had a sports-related injury? Student There’s one that I can recall. I’ve almost broken my little finger on my right hand. We had to throw the ball during one of the practices and something went wrong. Fortunately, it was bruised only, but it still hurt like hell. Teacher Have you ever participated in a sports competition? Student I have, a couple of times, actually. I’ve been participating in competitions with my handball team for years. We’ve won many gold medals, but, of course, we’ve lost some matches, too. Teacher Do you watch sports on TV? Student Yes, I do. I usually watch handball matches on TV. Like, I watched the world championship a couple of weeks ago. My favourite Hungarian player is Richard Bodo, who started playing handball at a very young age, just like me. Teacher Have you ever attended a live sports event? Student We’ve planned to attend one with my family, but, no, we haven’t. I really hope it’s not gonna stay that way for very long, though.
