Michelangelo was born in a village near Florence, which became the center of his early career.

Michelangelo’s David became a symbol of Florence because of its beauty and representation of bravery.

Michelangelo invented a system of scaffolding so he could paint the ceiling without leaving holes in it.

Both artists worked on important projects for the Pope in Rome, including paintings in the Sistine Chapel for Michelangelo and other works for Raphael.

Michelangelo painted the ceiling while lying on his back, which was so uncomfortable he even wrote poems about it.

Raphael was inspired by his father, Giovanni Santi, a painter who worked for the Duke of Urbino.

Michelangelo was jealous of Raphael’s success and accused him of stealing ideas for his art.

Raphael employed many assistants to help him with his projects, allowing him to complete paintings quickly.

Michelangelo designed the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, though it was completed after his death.
