Ms Amy
Alright class, before we move on, let's revisit our key term today: resources. Alif, can you tell us what resources are?
Alif
Resources are things we use to make a living, right Ms. Amy?
Ms Amy
Exactly! They can be anything from the water we drink to the computers we use. Now, Danial, can you tell us what are the different types of resources?
Danial
There are natural resources, which come from nature like water, trees, and minerals. And there are human resources, which are the skills and knowledge that people have.
Ms Amy
Perfect! Human resources is the most valuable resource we have. Without human resource, we are unable to use natural resources for our benefits. We need knowledge and skills so that we know how to use natural resources appropriately.
Ms Amy
As for natural resources, it is also incredibly beneficial to us and our surroundings. It is also divided into two types. It is renewable resources and non-renewable resources. Alif, can you give us some examples of natural resources?
Alif
Well, trees give us oxygen to breathe! We use water for drinking, bathing, and growing food. And minerals are used to make things like buildings and tools. So this is called natural resources. More specifically, renewable resources.
Danial
How about non-renewable resources, Ms. Amy?
Ms Amy
Well, non-renewable resources mean natural resources that cannot be replaced. If we use them excessively, they will run out someday. Can you think of a natural resource that cannot be replaced instantly?
Danial
Is oil and gas one of the examples of non-renewable resources, Ms. Amy?
Ms Amy
That's right! Unfortunately, these resources aren't unlimited. Coal, oil and natural gas cannot be replaced easily as they make millions of years to form and are buries deep in the ground. That's why conservation is so important.
Alif
It is also why we need to use it wisely, Danial.
Danial
Yeah.
Ms Amy
Very good, Alif. Speaking of conservation, I have a task for all of you. Today, I want you to open your textbook and read the pages of 66 until 70.
