I say that I will not this book for a long time . I hooked from the first chapter . The devastating story affected so much that I have crying for three days . The story made me reflect on my life . Now I have images in my brain that I believe will leave me . It is incredibly well constructed and , it is fiction , it is based real - life events . I learned a lot about things that happened that I had never about before . Margaret Emerson has a way with words and I really felt real empathy for the characters , although I was sometimes irritated by the decisions they made . , the side story , the part that takes place in the present , not as good . I found myself rereading the first part so I could to Paris in the 1940s . it is a very book and I am it to all my reading .
