Central nervous system
The central nervous system has two parts:
The peripheral nervous system is made up of two kinds of nerves
Motor nerves:
The spinal cord
Sensory nerves:
Neurons have a star-like shape made up of three parts:
The brain
neurons
Peripheral nervous system
The brain The spinal cord
which is formed by nerves that transmit the information.
Cell body Axons Dendrites
They transmit information from the sensory organs and internal organs to the central nervous system.
which is a thick cord made up of many neurons. It goes through the inside of the spine and it is protected by the vertebrae.
which is inside the skull. It has three main parts: the cerebrum, the cerebellum and the brain stem.
Sensory nerves Motor nerves
They transmit responses from the central nervous system to the muscles and glands of the body.
which is formed by nerve centres that interpret the information and develop responses. It is divided between the brain and the spinal cord.
Both the central and the peripheral nervous system are made up of specialised cells
