Know epileptic or >/=1 seizure
First time seizure
If pregnant or postpartum
Active seizure/Postictal/Status epilepticus
Still seizing or recurrent seizure
Send samples for UEC MPS, HIV (urinalysis if pregnant or postpartum)
>5 minutes of a continuous seizure or >/=2 discrete seizures between which there is incomplete recovery of consciousness
Set up IV access and give Midazolam 0.1 mg/Kg
load with IV magnesium sulphate 4 mg diluted in 100 mL NS over 15 mins
Send samples for UEC MPS, HIV, antiepileptic drug levels as applicable
