The writer and the reader do not have contact in time and space. The idea of an audience generates contact. The reader can go over it as many times as wanted. It should be clear because immediate feedback is not possible. There is no room for fillers, repetitions and redundancy. Reading is possible at any time and any speed. Writing needs to be TAUGHT and LEARNT. Something cannot be changed once it is written. Use of topic sentences, paragraphs, units, conventional rules of grammar, formal and precise vocabulary.
