Attività educative proposte dal Museo Doderlein!
The Museum of Zoology was founded in the second half of the 19th century by Prof. Pietro Doderlein. The building still preserves the original structure and furniture, which immediately make visitors feel the atmosphere of old times. The museum’s collection of dried fishes is one of the most important in Europe. It’s a legacy of fauna that can no longer be found: from sturgeons, caught in the Gulf of Palermo, to cases of different species such as conger eels and snappers with a body-size no longer detected in present day catches. The original Doderlein’s birds collection is noteworthy, while the mammals collection consists of stuffed animals coming from Europe, Asia, Africa and America. There is also a rich collection of invertebrates.
