Arctic tern (Sterna paradisea) is a medium-sized, slender white bird with black cap, deeply forked, long tail and white wings with some dark at tips, well known for its long yearly migration. Its travel from its Arctic breeding grounds to its wintering grounds of Antarctica may cover perhaps 40,000 km

Capelin is a small pelagic fish, usually between 15 and 18 cm in catches, found in the North Atlantic, North Pacific and Arctic Oceans. The capelin is possibly the most ecologically important fish in Icelandic waters. It has a key role in the food chain between animal plankton and larger fish.

Barnacle geese (Branta leucopsis) are medium-sized birds (55-70 cm length, 1-2,25 kg weight), they occur in three separate populations that breed in northeast Greenland, in Svalbard and in northwest Russia and the Baltic region, wintering in northwestern Europe. Most breed in colonies on small islands. Both sexes look the same: black neck, breast, cap, and bill, white face and belly, black on white plumage on the back. Their diet consists of leaves, stems, roots, moss and seeds. Barnacle Geese create closely packed colonies and migrate in flocks of hundreds together. In breeding season 4 – 5 eggs are laid. The female takes care of the eggs for 25 days. In an effort to avoid predators (like Arctic fox), barnacle geese build their nests on high mountain cliffs.

The brown bear (Ursus arctos) is the widest distributed bear of the bear family (Ursidae) on our planet. Two subspecies can be distinguished: in Europe we have the Eurasian brown bear (Ursus arctos arctos) and in Northern America the grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis)

The puffin (Fratercula arctica) is one of the most easily recognised birds. It has a comical appearance, with its parrot-like, large colourful bill, red and black markings around the eyes large pale cheek patches and bright orange legs . Young puffins lack the large colourful beak.
