NITRIFICATION
This is how plants absorb the nitrates. Plants absorb nitrates from the soil into their roots. Then, the nitrogen gets used in amino acids, nucleic acids, and chlorophyll.
When bacteria breaks down the nitrates and soil into nitrogen and sends the nitrogen back out into the air. Once nitrogen gets back into the air, the cycle starts all over again.
Part of the decaying process. When a plant or animal dies or gives off waste, decomposers like fungi and bacteria break down materials, and the nitrogen is returned to the soil in the form of ammonia.
First step in the process of making nitrogen usable by plants. Atmospheric nitrogen enters the soil through precipitation. Bacteria then changes atmospheric nitrogen into ammonium
The process by which ammonium gets changed into nitrates by bacteria. Nitrates are what the plants can then absorb.
