The model states that there is no one best style of leadership. Instead, a leader's effectiveness is based on the situation. This is the result of two factors – "leadership style" and "situational favourableness" (later called "situational control").
Shows the relationship between the levels of freedom that a manager chooses to give to a team, and the level of authority used by the manager. They concentrated more on delegation & freedom in decision making to subordinates and there by on the team development.
Developed a leadership model of 4 distinct leadership styles based on the amount of direction and support required.
Good managers and leaders need to have full command of the three main areas of the action-centred or ‘three-circle’ leadership model.
