In recent years many people have become increasingly aware of the need for physical fitness. Almost everywhere people turn, whether it is to a newsstand, television or billboard, advice for guarding and improving health bombards them. Although much of this advice is commercially motivated by those eager to sell vitamins, natural foods and reducing gimmicks, some of it, especially that advocating a regular exercise program, merits serious attention. Such a program, if it consists of at least thirty minutes three times a week and if a person's physician approves it, provides numerous benefits. Regular exercise releases tension, improves appearance, and increases stamina.

Although easy solutions to the goals of losing weight and achieving an attractive, energetic body saturate the media, actually acquiring these benefits is not easy. The rewards, however, are fully worth the effort of an established exercise program that makes a person feel relaxed, look healthy, and have adequate strength for strenuous as well as routine activities.

When many people hear the word Africa, they picture steaming jungles and gorillas. Hollywood films have shrunk the public image of this immense, varied continent into a small segment of its actual diversity. To have a more accurate picture of the whole continent, however, one should remember that there are, roughly, three Africas, each with its distinct climate and terrain and with a style of life suited to the environment. The continent can be divided into the northern desert areas, the southeastern grasslands, and the tropical jungles to the southwest.

Even a superficial look at the major regions of Africa shows that it is a varied continent with several environments. Although most of the continent is tropical in its range of temperature, the climate ranges from deserts to rain forests. Similarly, human life-styles vary from the simplest rural villages to industrial cities, both new and ancient. Contrary to the myth, however, jungle life makes up only a very small portion of the whole of Africa.

Writing an MLA-formatted paper can seem like a daunting task at first, especially when students view their teachers as red-pen-happy, paper-slaying dragons. Fortunately, with the advent of easy-to-use word-processing software such as Microsoft Word and Google Docs, the task of properly formatting a paper has become relatively simple. Making a paper’s format meet the expectations of even the strictest teacher is simple: the writer lays out the heading, title, and margins, writes cohesive paragraphs, credits sources with in-text citations, and seals the deal with a comprehensive works-cited page.

Once the preliminary effort of sorting through research material, selecting references, and planning out an argument is done, the hard work of writing the text begins; while the text of the paper is the most important piece for presenting an argument effectively, the format of the paper Student 3 can greatly influence the reader’s reception of the writer’s argument, and proper documentation ensures receiving credit and avoiding plagiarism issues. Poor formatting will inhibit the reader’s understanding, but clear formatting will stay out of the reader’s way, unnoticed, because the writer followed a few simple rules.

Guns don‘t kill people; people kill people. If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have the guns. These are typical sayings of anti-gun control activists who believe that gun usage and ownership should not be controlled by state or federal laws for they do not feel these laws are an effective means of controlling crime. Gun control has been a failure because it prevents citizens from the right to defend themselves. Crime has not decreased since the passage of gun control laws. The media has offered conflicting evidence about the effects of gun control. Guns have been an effective crime deterrent especially for women. The negative attitude toward guns is most often caused by a lack of knowledge and misrepresentation of information.

Gun control has not done what it was expected to do. It ended up hurting those who take the responsibility for owning guns legally. Law makers and the media must realize that criminals can get guns by any means necessary if they want one and that guns are an important part of self defense, especially for women. The right to bear arms has been a part of our country since its beginning, and it has been there for a reason, self-defense being one of these reasons.

Each year, thousands of people throughout the United States choose to spend their vacations camping in the great outdoors. Depending on an individual's sense of adventure, there are various types of camping to choose from, including log cabin camping, recreational vehicle camping, and tent camping. Of these, tent camping involves "roughing it" the most, and with proper planning the experience can be gratifying. Even with the best planning, however, tent camping can be an extremely frustrating experience due to uncontrolled factors such as bad weather, wildlife encounters, and equipment failures.

These three types of camping troubles can strike campers almost anywhere. Until some brilliant scientist invents a weather machine to control bad weather or a kind of wildlife repellant, unlucky campers will continue to shake their fists in frustration. More than likely, equipment will continue to malfunction. Even so, camping continues to be a favorite pastime of people all across the United States. If you want camping to be a happy experience for you, learn to laugh at leaky tents, bad weather, and bugs, or you will find yourself frustrated and unhappy.
